Description: Menopause is when menstruation stops permanently due to the loss of ovarian follicular activity. It occurs with the final menstrual period and is usually diagnosed clinically after 12 months of amenorrhoea. In the UK, the mean age of natural menopause is 51 years. It is a major life event affecting all women in a variety of ways, both short and long term. NICE guidance says that management of women with menopause should include advice on lifestyle measures for symptom relief, such as exercise, weight loss, adequate sleep, and stress reduction. All healthcare professionals should therefore have a basic understanding of the menopause and know where to signpost women for advice, support and treatment whenever appropriate. This webinar will examine prescribing, different forms of menopause and provide healthcare professionals with an overview of the best current practice.
