She leads the MQ funded Adolescent Mental Health Data Platform and the Suicide Information Database-Cymru. She is a Principal Investigator of the National Centre for Mental Health and the Wolfson Centre for Young People’s Mental Health.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Journal Interactive Talk

In this session, Dr Nic Hooper and Dr Olivia Donnelly will introduce you to their Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Journal. They will describe the personal journeys that led them to ACT as well as a brief description of the ACT model and how it helps individuals flourish, whatever their circumstances. They will walk you through the structure of their journal and how you can use it to make lasting change towards what matters. And finally, there will be time for questions.

Dr Nic Hooper

Dr Nic Hooper is an expert in clinical psychology and a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England in Bristol. He has authored many scientific articles, book chapters and books including The Research Journey of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and The Unbreakable Student. Nic is a co-director of Connect (which is an organisation that offers a psychological wellbeing curriculum for primary school children) and also co-wrote both the popular annual ACT Diary and the newly created 12-week ACT Journal.

Dr Olivia Donnelly

Dr Olivia DonnellyDr Olivia Donnelly is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Olivia is passionate about using ACT to help people with physical conditions to live as well as possible, as well as providing supervision and training to health professionals. Her role within the NHS is increasingly focused on ways to support the wellbeing of colleagues as they provide skilled and compassionate care. She has a particular interest in practical, values-based approaches to promoting wellbeing within individuals, teams, and across organisations, based on the foundation that ‘resilience is between us, not just within us’.
