ELT – Promoting positive classroom communities

After all this time of teaching online through the pandemic, let’s help the students reconnect with others, themselves, and you in the classroom, create a positive classroom climate and discourse and, in turn, motivating and effective learning outcomes. There will be opportunities to reflect on your teaching practice and to consider how Mark Almond’s recommendations may differ from the sophisticated and effective initial and in-service teacher training, which equips teachers with a toolkit of methodological techniques, practices and procedures for teaching language, yet could be lacking in some of the more human aspects of teaching: teacher presence, classroom dynamics, rapport and general interpersonal skills.
